The Tracks module records your route using GPS.
Recording
- Go to Tools → Tracks
- Select activity type (sailing, walking, cycling, etc.)
- Press Start — the app saves GPS points in the background
- Pause suspends recording without ending the track
- Stop ends recording — enter a name and save
While recording you see time, distance, speed, altitude and GPS point count. A system notification shows that recording is active.
Live map: while recording (not paused), you see an OpenStreetMap with your current GPS track and position.
Track list: tap a saved track to view the map, statistics and details. You can delete unwanted tracks.
Return to track start: Default: shortest straight line to the track's first GPS point (bearing and distance from phone GPS) — you judge route, depth and obstacles; not along the recorded path.
BETA option: “Return along track (BETA)” — backward along the recorded path; experimental, may pick the wrong segment on loops. Needs at least 2 GPS points.
How to start
- Saved track: Tools → Tracks → Track list → “Return to start (shortest line)” or BETA along-track button
- While recording: buttons under the live map (BETA from 2 points)
Map: grey — recorded track; green — shortest line (dashed) or BETA path; markers — start and your position.
Stats: bearing, distance, return progress. BETA adds XTE and waypoint index. Arrival at start ~35 m.
Distance alarm: to current target (Help → Safety at sea).
Export: tracks can be exported to GPX and (when configured) to Strava.
