Watch Alarm reminds the captain to confirm they are on watch at the chosen interval. Access: Help → Safety at sea → Watch alarm.
Starting
- Select interval: 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes
- Tap “Start watch alarm”
How it works
- The app runs a foreground service in the background (system notification)
- When the interval elapses: loud alarm, vibration, screen wake and full-screen alert
- The captain must tap “I confirm I am on watch” — the timer then restarts for the next interval
- Without confirmation the alarm stays active (sound and notification)
Confirmation is available from
- The full-screen alarm
- The Watch alarm module screen
- The “Confirm” action on the system notification
Stopping: The “Stop watch alarm” button requires confirmation in a dialog — accidental stop is harder.
Requirements
- Notification permission (Android 13+)
- “Watch alarm — ALARM” channel enabled and loud
- Android 14+: full-screen notification permission
- Recommended: disable battery optimisation for the app
Alarm state is saved locally — monitoring may resume after a phone restart.
