Captain's responsibility
Compass 2050 is built for sailing enthusiasts who want to run their voyage from one app.
It is not certified (no MED/IMO, CE navigation class, GL, DNV, etc.) and does not meet mandatory yacht equipment requirements.
It does not replace certified charts, magnetic compass, AIS plotter, VHF/GMDSS, EPIRB, or professional safety systems (COLREG, SOLAS, national rules).
You use the app at your own risk — auxiliary tools, not a substitute for professional navigation.
Modules — auxiliary use
- Features support you on board; they do not replace certified gear
- Weather (MET Norway) — helper forecast, not an operational bulletin.
- Tracks — GPS recording; default return is shortest line to start; along-track mode (BETA) — not a plotter.
- Fishing traps — trap log and navigate-to-point GPS.
- Anchor watch, Drift Guard — phone-based support, not a certified alarm.
- Watch alarm — reminder, not bridge watchkeeping.
- Speed / distance alarms — phone GPS monitoring.
- Marine stopwatch — time helper, not an engine log.
- MOB — return bearing aid, not a rescue procedure.
- VHF Phrasebook — templates; not VHF/GMDSS radio.
- Compass, HDG+COG, GPS — phone sensors; accuracy varies.
- Boat documents — local expiry reminders.
- Offline Emergency Guide — reference checklists, not certified rescue procedures.
Limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is” without warranty as to accuracy, uninterrupted operation, or fitness for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer (Jakub Lewandowski) is not liable for damages arising from use of the app. The user bears sole responsibility for compliance with regulations and use of certified equipment on board.
